Level 3 Spatial & Product Design (L3SPD)
Overview
Spatial design is about designing spaces for people and understanding how people move, interact and feel within these spaces. Product design is about designing products for people, places and animals and understanding their needs and wants.
This course enables you to extend your understanding and skills in designing and visual communication in the fields of spatial design (architecture, landscape, interior design etc.) or product design (including industrial and technological design). You will complete a portfolio of work suitable for gaining entry to tertiary design courses.
What will I learn?
You will continue to develop skills in;
drawing; producing freehand, instrumental and digital drawings
developing, testing and evaluating design ideas
constructing models and mock-ups
understanding aesthetic and functional elements of design.
You will write your own design briefs and have a great deal of freedom to pursue your own interests in spatial or product design.
What should I have done already?
Have successfully completed Level 2 Spatial & Product Design.

There will usually not be an opportunity for reassessment.

There is no reassessment opportunity for students who do not hand work in on time.
Each unit will have a deadline and you will be given these closer to the start of each topic. Deadlines, obviously must be met.
Authenticity and appeals
Assessment work completed must be your own work.

Where does this course lead?
Level 3 Spatial and Product Design involves a rich variety of learning experiences leading to a wide range of career and further study opportunities. These include design, engineering, architecture at university or polytechnic and related careers.
Students will develop a portfolio of material which is required as evidence for entrance into some tertiary courses such as architecture and design.
