Level 1 Spatial & Product Design (L1SPD)
Overview
Spatial design is about designing spaces for people and understanding how people move, interact and feel within these spaces. Product design is about designing products for people, places and animals and understanding their needs and wants.
This course enables you to extend your understanding and skills in designing, problem solving and visual communication in the fields of spatial design (architecture and interior design) and product design (including industrial and technological design). You will be encouraged to seek individual solutions and use a variety of drawing and modelling approaches to develop and present these solutions. You will develop an awareness of the social context of design.
What will I learn?
You will learn how to design spaces and products by tackling exercises to develop new skills and knowledge. These skills will then be applied to two design projects.
What should I have done already?
Satisfactory performance in Year 10 or Year 9 Spatial & Product Design is a prerequisite for this course. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Head of Technology.
