Level 2 Te Reo Māori (L2MAO)
Overview
Ko te reo Māori te kākahu o te whakaaro, te huarahi i te ao tūroa, (The Māori language is the cloak of thought and pathway to this natural world). This full-year course will take you deeper into te ao Māori (the Māori world) and build on basic skills to develop your use and understanding of te reo Māori. This will involve all strands of language: Whakarongo (listening), Kōrero (speaking), Tuhituhi (writing), Mātakitaki (viewing), Whakatu (presenting), and Pānui (reading) as well as many interactive activities that are both independent and cooperative.
What will I learn?
You will begin to achieve personal independence in te reo Māori and be able to initiate and sustain conversations with te reo Māori speakers in familiar and unfamiliar contexts, using more complex Māori language patterns spontaneously. You will be confident in experimenting with new language, understand instructions and information in formal and informal contexts and read independently. You will be able to express opinions and ideas using evidence to support your views and use a wide range of kīwaha and whakatauki appropriately.
