Year 10 Materials Technology (10MTK)

Overview

You will build on skills and knowledge gained in the junior Materials Technology courses and gain greater confidence in working with tools and materials.  You will investigate various materials including wood and metal. You will learn new techniques to construct and join materials and you will learn the skills to use the appropriate machinery.

You will create two projects, one of which is a wooden stool which will require design, tools and appropriate materials to make it function as it should. The second is working with metal and using pewter casting. 

What will I learn?

  • work with appropriate machinery eg lathes to design and construct cool and interesting projects.

Where does this course lead?

This course leads onto Level 1 and 2 Woodwork and also Level 1 and 2 Mechanical Engineering.
