Year 10 Social Studies (10SOC)

Overview

Social Studies is the study of societies. It takes elements of Culture, Economics, Geography and History in the analysis of human societies through times of peace and times of conflict. We look at critical issues in Human Rights, Ethics, War, International Relations and New Zealand society.

What will I learn?

  • The struggle for rights around the world.

  • Sustainability: Plastics, Carbon and Biodiversity Issues.

  • Why are we a little bit racist? Race relations in NZ through History.

  • How Cold War tensions still shapes our world today.

  • A little bit of what's current and interesting.

Assessment outline

Resource interpretation, essay writing, digital presentations, posters. There is an exam in Term 4.
