Overview

Cardrona and Treble Cone are utilising local networks to discover talent and increase capability in our communities. This includes connections with local schools and tertiary providers to provide training programs and career opportunities.

The Cardrona x Treble Cone Snow College is a training program aimed at giving local students the opportunity to learn about and understand the different career opportunities within the snow industry.

What will I learn?

This program's credits require three days of on-hill work experience. Students who complete the workbook, classroom, and on-hill requirements may be offered paid work during the school holidays and term 3. Transport will be provided.

Feedback will be given during on the on-job experience based on a 1-4 scale set against the Cardrona & Treble Cone values and observations from the work experience. Students will be expected to achieve grade 3 – 4 to be achieving the standard required. Managers and supervisors will support students to enable them to meet these requirements and will engage in regular feedback and coaching.

Assessment outline

Upon successful completion of the snow industry pathway program written work and on hill work experience, the following unit standards can be awarded.

L3SNOW

* Additional credits can be undertaken for NZ Certificate in Alpine Resort Operations

Where does this course lead?

The snow industry pathway program includes 10 credits that count toward the NZ Certificate in Alpine Resort Operations, which is a 40 credit, level 3 qualification. Following this program, students who continue to employment with Cardrona and Treble Cone will have the opportunity to gain the additional 30 credits required to achieve this qualification.
