Level 1 Te Ao Haka (L1TAH)
Overview
This is a full-year course and will explore the significance of narratives (he taonga tuku iho) as a catalyst for context and composition. Te Ao Haka will incorporate the key elements and features that are uniquely Māori and express these through performance.
What will I learn?
Explore various local dialects - in movement, style, language, and content
Narratives and how they connect to te ao Māori through whakapapa
Identify the unique tikanga and reo features of Te Ao Haka, and begin to use them in practice
Understand the relationship between performance and community
Identify components, elements, and features of performance through observation
